A mild winter and a very watery spring: everything is assembled so that a lot of small pungent mosquitoes are born. Particularly formidable, the tiger mosquito has already made its appearance in more than half of the French departments. As a result, the fight against these insects has
changed in nature. "Protecting yourself is no longer just a matter of comfort, it also becomes a health issue," explains Thomas Laurenceau, of "60 Million Consumers". The tiger mosquito can transmit dengue, chikungunya or the Zika virus.
Without giving in to the alarmist discourse of some manufacturers of anti-mosquito products this justifies that one seeks to better protect oneself, warns the journalist. He recognizes that most of the products tested are effective, whether they are aerosol cans or diffusers. Problem: Some active ingredients are not great for humans either. They may be irritating or cause conjunctivitis or respiratory discomfort.
Repellent products, whether put on the body or on clothing, have also proved their effectiveness. But again attention to children and pregnant women. Finally, avoid the anti-mosquito bracelets that bring only a "false protection", says Thomas Laurenceau.
